Locked out of the OKX app: a recovery checklist for lost email, phone or authenticator
Match your situation to the right OKX recovery route: forgotten password, lost authenticator, changed phone number or lost access to email, with what each route asks for and what to avoid.
OKX | the reader's region | the reader's funding currency | application origin and signature checks
Being locked out of an exchange account is stressful, and stress makes people click things they should not. The good news is that OKX has a defined route for each common situation, and most of them can be started from the login screen of the app. The bad news is that scammers know people search for help, and they wait in comment sections and search ads. Start by naming exactly what you lost, then follow the matching route below.
Forgotten password
On the OKX login screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email or phone. You will receive a code to set a new password, followed by your authenticator code if one is bound. After a password reset, withdrawals may be temporarily restricted as a safety measure; the app tells you if so. Use a password manager to create a long, unique password this time.
Lost authenticator
Enter your email and password, then at the authenticator step choose the option saying you cannot access it. The reset usually involves identity checks such as a face scan. Once access returns, bind the authenticator again from Security and write the setup key on paper. Adding a passkey gives you a second strong method next time.
Lost phone number or email
If you no longer control the phone number or email on the account, look for the option to change or reset that method in the recovery flow, or contact support from the help center. Expect stronger identity checks, because control of email is how most resets are authorised. If you still control the other method, use it to log in and change the lost one under Security as soon as possible.
What not to do while locked out
Do not create a new account to reach your funds, do not pay anyone who offers a faster unlock, and do not share codes with callers. Genuine OKX support communicates through the in-app chat and email that includes your anti-phishing code. You can check any contact with OKX Verify. Once you are back in, review devices, the withdrawal address book and API keys.
Prepare now so recovery is never needed
While you still have access, open Security and check four things: the email on file is one you control and protect with its own two-factor login, the authenticator setup key is written down somewhere safe, a passkey is added on your main phone, and the anti-phishing code is set. Note the date in your records. With these in place, losing one method leaves you with another, and most lockouts become a minor inconvenience instead of a multi-day recovery.
Risk boundary: OKX App Safety Guide
Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
Scenario checkpoint
- Name exactly what you lost before choosing a recovery option on the OKX login screen
- Write the authenticator setup key on paper and add a passkey once access returns
- Ignore paid unlock offers and verify any contact with OKX Verify before replying
